Beaches in Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch is located about 25km from the False Bay Coast. Popular beaches along the coast include Strand's Melk Baai, Gordon's Bay and Muizenberg. Melk Baai in Strand being the closest to Stellenbosch.

Strand and Muizenberg are good beaches for those looking to try their hand at surfing or body boarding. Boards are available for hire at Muizenberg beach in several of the Surf Shops along the waterfront.

Strand's Melk Baai and Gordon's Bay beach are good family beaches for kids to play in the sand, water and indulge in an ice cream. In peak season, umbrellas can usually be hired for the day. Beware of a strong south-easterly wind in summer. The wind may cool things down in the hot interior but will ruin your day at the beach.
