Wine Tasting in Stellenbosch

The beautiful wine farms of Stellenbosch will welcome you to their cellars and tasting rooms. Most major wine cellars are open 6 days a week for visitors to come and taste some of the finest reds and wines produced in South Africa. Some, a few, are open on Sundays. It is best to check dates and opening hours with the estate prior to setting off.

Estates will charge anywhere from R10 to R20 for a tasting of a few of their wines and a tasting glass which you may usually keep as a souvenir. Tastings can include fine reds, whites, ports, brandies, late harvests, dessert wines and Méthode Cape Classic. In some cases, the tasting charges may be waived if a few bottles or cases are purchased at the winery after the tasting. Most major wineries accept credit cards but it is a good idea to have cash in case. A few of the estates also have a restaurant on location where great food accompanied by great wines can be enjoyed on a relaxing weekend trip to the Cape Winelands.
